Imperial Trucking specializes in moving very heavy freight commonly referred over-weight, over-limit, and even over-legal. These terms do not actually refer to anything “illegal”; rather,
they simply mean that heavy freight being moved is beyond the restrictions set forth by various jurisdictions and require special permitting and handling. This is where Imperial Trucking excels.
Imperial Trucking’s logistics planning department is very experienced at obtaining these special permits and escorts for oversized and over dimensional freight. Our planning process includes not only the preparation of lifting and unloading your oversized freight, but also anticipating possible problems on every mile of the transportation route and implementing safety measures. In addition, we determine which of these routes will be the best one to take based on many factors including local, state and federal jurisdiction requirements and our own heavy haul trucking experience along these routes.
Our heavy haul trucking experience affords us the confidence to determine the best routes for transporting over dimensional freight. From cranes and dozers to generators and wind energy equipment, we’ve transported it all. From door to door, port to port, or port to door – If its heavy, we’ve moved it. You may still have questions, however, about your particular freight. Below, is our most commonly asked question:
What Factors Determine An Over Legal Load?
There are many factors that can determine if freight is Over-Sized (Super Load) that will need special handling. Usually, the factors entail the following:
- Loaded height that exceeds state or provincial guidelines – generally over 13’6″(4.11 meters)
- Loaded width that exceeds 8’6″ (2.59 meters)
- Overall loaded, including truck and trailer, length exceeds 72′ (22 meters)
- Overall weight, including load and transport equipment, exceeds 80,000 lbs. (36,250 kilograms)
- Other factors may also put your load into a non-legal load.
Although the above question is the one most commonly asked, you may have additional questions about your particular freight. Check out our list of frequently asked questions, and peruse our site to view all of our capabilities.
